Stepping into Virtual Reality – Wednesday January 12th 2022 

2pm – 4:30pm (2.5 hrs)   Cost: $5  Includes Pizza!

Ages: 12-16yrs

You’ve heard of Virtual Reality – but what is it really? Learn about the history of VR, the technology & its current applications in a range of industries and settings. You’ll be able to experience VR yourself, by trying an educational simulation or gaming experience of your choice.  BOOK here.

Facilitator: Gerald Case is an Electronics Technician, a huge computer nerd, and VR enthusiast. When he isn’t reading about technology, he is pulling it apart..and mostly putting it back together.  He is looking forward to showing you the future of education, training and entertainment!

 

Work-Ready – How to Win your first JOB – Wednesday January 19th 2022

4pm – 5:30pm (1.5hrs)   Cost: $5   Includes Pizza!

Ages: 15-16yrs

You want to a job, but are not sure how and where to start. Come along to this workshop where you’ll learn about resume prep, interview skills, volunteering as a stepping-stone, and how to find work.  BOOK here.

Facilitator: Renee Case is a Qualified Social Worker, a Business Administrator in the corporate world, and a life long Volunteer.  She’s helped many people navigate the world of work, sharpen their resumes, and develop a confident approach to their job search.

 

Bicycle Know How – Saturday January 22nd 2022

10am- 11:30am (1.5hrs)   Cost: $5   Pizza included!

Ages: 12-16yrs

Busted tyres? No worries. Brakes stuck? I can fix that! Cool bike on the verge? What’s next? Learn tips on how to take care of your bike as well, as making it last longer by fixing the parts that need attention. Bring your questions and your bike!   BOOK here.

Facilitator: Darren Smith is a Geologist, a drone operator, and a keen cyclist. He loves fixing and refurbishing bikes too. He will teach you all you need to know to get your bike back on track.

 

Fusion Dance – Saturday, January 29th 2022

4pm – 5:15pm  Cost: $5

Ages: 12-16yrs

Getting fit has never been so fun! In this energetic class you’ll learn some basic steps in Highland Dancing and Ballet, and master a mini routine.  BOOK here.

Facilitator: Rebecca Wraight is a lover of Ballet and a champion Highland Dancer and Teacher.  She has a life long love of dancing and all things Scottish.  She’d happily challenge you to a sword dance, if you dare!

 

Workshops 4 Women – an Empowerment Project

We’re introducing an exciting new program in 2022 for women and provided by women. Our monthly evening workshops provide opportunities for skill-sharing, knowledge building, connection and empowerment. We’re covering a range of themes and topics and inviting women with a strong hobby, community interest or small business to present and engage with their female peers.

Children & Families Program 

  • Somerville Playgroup 

Somerville Playgroup is a positive social and learning environment for children aged 0-5 years.  We provide a range unstructured play experiences for children, and an opportunities for their parents and grandparents to build friendships and find peer support.

Seniors enjoy afternoon tea and a program of structured activities, board games, guest speakers and outings.

  • Free WiFi & IT Support 

Seniors are welcome to use our office space to access our laptop and free Wifi between Monday – Wednesday 9am-12noon.

We also offer seniors IT support for any software or hardware problem with a qualified technician, by appointment between 12:30pm-3:30pm.

 

KM Earth Care Initiatives

  • Sustainability Workshops

Kulungah Myah runs a range of different workshops throughout the year with environmental and sustainability themes from recycling, to energy management, perma-culture, and urban conservation.   Stay-tuned for our next workshop!

  • Community Garden Project

Two wicking-garden beds are currently under construction at the Centre, which will have input from local children to see through to completion.    This project will involve the use of mostly recycled and donated materials, and will offer children experiential learning.   Date of Garden Busy Bee to be advised.

  • KM Book Exchange 

Kardinya Book Exchange

The KM Book Exchange is located just near our front door entry, and is our way of encouraging the sharing and appreciation of second hand books.  Our community friends are welcome to “Take a Book or Leave a Book” from our colourful little library.  Visit anytime of day or evening.  We have books for every age and interest!

  • Grow Free 

Kulungah Myah is proud to be part of this social movement which aims to promote community through the sharing of home grown food & produce, seeds, seedlings, cuttings and root-stock.   To join this initiative you can give freely and leave behind anything organic, nutritious and home made, or else related to gardening.
